Fashion Prize Cocktails

Is it possible to express a specific aesthetic style through a drink? There is only one way to find out. You can taste a limited edition Fashion Prize cocktail menu*, celebrating five designers who have been shortlisted for the 2012 Dorchester Collection Fashion Prize

Calla
Calla Spring/Summer 2013. Milanese Calla-pirinha cocktail

This award was open to designers based in France, Switzerland, Belgium, Netherlands and Luxembourg who have operated their brand for at least two years. The shortlisted designers will showcase their designs on October 16 at a catwalk final to be held at Hôtel Plaza Athénée, located in the heart of the Paris Haute Couture district.

"I feel honoured to have been part of the Dorchester Collection Fashion Prize since it began and I'm immensely proud of its important role in helping emerging talent reach new heights." Elizabeth Saltzman

Augustin Teboul
Augustin Teboul, Spring/Summer 2013. Black Velvet Cocktail

The lucky winner will be awarded a prize of €30,000 plus a stay during spring Fashion Week 2013 at a Dorchester Collection property in either Paris or Milan. The judging panel includes Elizabeth Saltzman, contributing editor to Vanity Fair and Lorenz Baumer, creative director of Louis Vuitton jewellery.

Augustin Teboul style is dark and sophisticated just as Black Velvet a tequila-based cocktail with blackberries, thyme honey, crème de cassis and lime juice. Designers Annelie Augustin and Odély Teboul joined forces with Stefano Cossio, head bartender at 45 Park Lane, to create this amazing drink.

IRM Design
IRM Design, Spring/Summer 2012. IRM Cocktail

Inspired by Calla's colourful collection, Daniele Confalonieri, bar manager at Hotel Principe Savoia, mixed the Milanese Calla-pirinha - an orange-hued cocktail with a cinnamon stick, a sprinkle of saffron, white crushed ice and limes to add a touch of green.

After seeing the experimental design style of IRM Design, Thierry Hernandez, bar director at Hôtel Plaza Athénée, conceived IRM Cocktail composed of three shots of rum, sake and vodka, presented with three different pipettes containing iris, rose and mint essences. They add colour to mirror the running paint effect used by the designers.

Quentin Veron
Quentin Veron Autumn/Winter 12-13. Black Southside cocktail

The dark and bohemian style of Quentin Veron was captured by the bar team at Le Richemond in Black Southside, a gin based cocktail with blackberries and cherry syrup.

Last but not least, my favourite cocktail! Nuit Noire is an amazing blueberry vodka based drink with blackberry liqueur created by William Oliveri, bar director at Le Meurice, to express the flamboyant vibe of Les Garçons designs. Good luck to all shortlisted designers!
